Let us begin the prayer service on colour of harmony in nature and in a life of harmony through the prayer song Counting colours in the rainbow. Rainbows reflect a perfect balance within the physical world. A Rainbow is God`s messenger of joy and a universal sign of peace.
Conversational" prayer focuses on worship of our Savior, intercession for ourselves and others, confession of sin, and thankfulness to God.
Each prayer is brief. As in a normal conversation between friends or family members, no one person monopolizes the discussion, but each one contributes a few sentences at a time. Those who are praying change the subject naturally when necessary, and they accept silence.
Some believers dread prayer meetings. Perhaps they've lost interest during meetings where each person prayed a monologue covering everything on the list.
Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship through deliberate communication. In the narrow sense. More generally, prayer can also have the purpose of thanksgiving or praise, and in comparative religion is closely associated with more abstract forms of meditation and with charms or spells.
During a time of conversational prayer, the group members talk to God the same way they would talk to a friend who is in the room with them. Members should use everyday conversational language. Encourage the group (especially a group unfamiliar with group prayer) to feel free to pray sentence prayers, expressing only a brief thought in six words or so. They don’t have to pray long, elaborate prayers. Everyone is free to pray, or not to pray, as the Spirit directs. Don’t be concerned about silence – allows God to speak to you and the other individuals in the group during times of silence.
Prayer topic or request, one at a time. The group will then pray about this topic or request. When finished, the leader will introduce another topic or request. Both the number and types of topics introduced may vary. It is always helpful to designate a specific person to close each time. This helps insure that the prayer time will not bog down when everyone has had the opportunity to pray if they so desire.
Thanksgiving. Thank God for: His love, His forgiveness, the beautiful day, ways He is working in different lives, etc.
Thank God for something that has happened in your life in the past 24 hours.
“Please help… “ (yourself or someone else).
Thank God for how He will meet those desires and requests.
We were created to pray. God designed us to be relational beings. Then we converse among friends, we talk about deep issues, laugh, fight for airtime and thoroughly enjoy ourselves.
The same ought to be true of meeting with God. It should set our hearts free.
Prayer can take a variety of forms it is part of a ritual, and it can be performed alone or in groups. Prayer may take the form of a hymn, incantation, formal creedal statement, or a spontaneous utterance in the praying person.
